Diabetes, Level 1: Capable Caregiving for Diabetes, is a DSHS course designed to provide an overview on diabetic wellness, takes learns through a compressive understanding of the disease process and how diabetes affects all body systems. It provides best practices in health care using diet, exercise, and medications to manage this disease. Currently 11.3% of the US population lives with diabetes. Additionally, an estimated 38% of the US Adult population are believed to be prediabetic, the majority are unaware. This course is directed toward healthcare personnel in long term care settings, patients, and family members.

To register for a course date: Once you purchased the course you will have access to select which date you would like to enroll in the course. Select the date, you will see a blue button that says register. 

Once Registered:You will receive an email that will include: Your course information: virtual classroom access information, and an access code for this course. 

Textbook: A downloadable copy of the text is free with course and accessible through the course.

The day of the course:you will be able to access all modules of the course. It is expected that everyone who participates has a camera and microphone.

Certificatewill be sent once class is completed and learner has scored and 80% or above on the exam. Your certificate will show once completed on your Journey University User profile. You can download it from there.
