WELCOME to Journey University’s Home Care Aide Certification Course.

This course has been approved by DSHS and will prepare you to take the state's Home Care Aide course exam and become certified by the Washington Department of Health as a Home Care Aide. Once you've purchased your course, you will have immediate access to all course materials and can get started right away.

This course is self-paced and primarily online, with the exception of Skills Practice. You need not complete the entire course before you are hired as a caregiver, but you MUST complete the 5-hour Orientation and Safety portion so that you can safely provide physical care. We provide a 4-week schedule to help balance your time if you are already working.

You will also need to sign up for two special-focused courses which are led by Journey University faculty in our Virtual Classroom. Alternately, if you’ve taken them before you may submit a copy of your certificate for credit. By holding these seminar-style courses in an actual Classroom -- even a virtual one -- we improve our  engagement with learners, are able to teach skills in real time, and promote discussion with others taking the course.  

At Journey University we believe in hands-on learning, demonstration, and real-time practice for skills. You will need to come into our classroom to complete skills. At Journey University we will always recommend hands-on learning in real time, but we acknowledge that remote learning is more practical for some, and will be building an online Skills Section for those living far from our classroom(s).
