Orientation & Safety Course Overview

Orientation and Safety is a self-paced course that is required for caregivers new to the field.
If you are pursuing Home Care Aide certification, DSHS Orientation and Safety is part of the 75-hour Program.

DSHS Orientation and Safety
may also be purchased by facilities who are introducing new staff to Long Term Care.

Materials: Orientation and Safety presentations are produced and copyrighted
by Journey University, 2024. Links are provided in each Lesson that follows.

Most of our videos have interactive questions built in, and for other Courses, one may not continue unless the question is answered.  However, for Orientation and Safety, we provide concept checks and a final 'quiz' to confirm your understanding of the material -- and your responsibility to apply your knowledge in your work setting. At the end of the video is a green star and a Summary button asking you to confirm that you have watched the entire video.

The only OPTIONAL assignment for this Course is to prepare an emergency checklist for a client
(the client may be fictional). If you have not done a Safety Check in your own home, this would be a great opportunity for you to do so -- and be a model for those in your care.

End-of-Course Survey:  you must complete this to get credit for the Course.
